Margarita Karapanou
Biography
Margarita Karapanou was born in 1946 in Athens. Her mother was the novelist and playwright Margarita Liberaki. Her father was a lawyer and a poet. Her parents divorced soon after she was born, with her mother moving to Paris. She was brought up in Athens by her maternal grandmother in Athens and her mother in Paris. In Paris she studied philosophy and cinema and nursery education by distance learning, She later became a nursery school teacher. She suffered from bipolar disorder all her life. She wrote several novels, three of which have been translated into English. She also wrote plays and screenplays.
